Due to the economic challenges, Türkiye's home textile exports to Germany encounter headwinds, which may be lower than the export volume in 2021. Global high inflation and economic worries are hurting consumers' purchasing power, thus affecting the demand for non essential goods. Household textile exports of many countries, including Türkiye, declined.
In 2021, Türkiye's export to Germany will reach 76.1958 million US dollars. The COVID years of 2020 and 2021 are considered as the golden age of home textiles. Due to the blockade and restrictions, consumers were forced to stay at home, and the demand for household textiles surged during the pandemic. As a result, shipments reached the highest level in the past five years.
Exports jumped from US $610.564 billion in 2019 to US $7165.74 billion in 2020. Since the shipment volume in 2018 was USD 573.544 billion, they have maintained an upward trend. In 2017, the shipment volume was 685.424 billion US dollars. Türkiye exported 546.831 billion US dollars worth of household textiles to Germany in the first ten months of 2022.
